West Africa Connect: a multi-stakeholder initiative

Aug 18, 2021

Even these days, when meeting people is already challenging, there still is the need to connect with one another, share ideas and get to know new products and trends. To make this happen, West Africa Connect will bring textile and garments suppliers and ICT service providers together from 16 West African countries and buyers from Africa, Europe and North America in an online event. But a show like this can’t happen if it’s not backed by strong partners. In the case of West Africa Connect, we would like to introduce a few partners and donors.

Being a multi-stakeholder initiative means that West Africa Connect is implemented as part of the West Africa Competitiveness Programme (WACOMP). WACOMP is funded by the European Union and aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the region of West Africa and enhance the integration of ECOWAS and UEMOA Member States into regional and international trading systems.

Alongside the ECOWAS and UEMOA Commissions, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) are the implementing agencies of the regional component of the WACOMP programme.
